Master Tat- Mau Wong

Master Tat-Mau Wong serves as USAWKF¡¯s Administrative Vice President for Sanshou and is a member of the Technical Committee.


Originally from Hong Kong, Master Wong has been involved in martial arts since 1963.  Between 1972 and 1982 he was part of the Hong Kong Full-Contact and Performance team.  He was recognized as one of Southeast Asia's most formidable full-contact fighters and forms champions.  He moved to the United States in 1983 and opened the first Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy in San Francisco.  Today, Master Wong has schools in California, Connecticut, England, Chili and Brazil.

Master Wong has been awarded Man of the Year, Instructor of the Year and Kung Fu Artist of the Year by magazines such as Black Belt and Inside Kung Fu.  He has also been featured on covers and in articles.  He is now a contributing editor for a bi-monthly column for Inside Kung Fu Magazine.  He has also hosted the popular TV show `Kung Fu Theatre' on KTSF Channel 26 and San Francisco's Chinese New Year's Parade.

Most recently, Master Wong was honored with the position of coordinator for the International Kung Fu Quest to be held as part of Disney¡¯s Martial Arts Festival in October 2007.
